Dance Residency: Idiomas (Indo-French Dance Project)
The Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad is having the privilege to welcome Vaishali Trivedi & Sébastien Vela Lopez during a week. During this time, this Indo-French team will take possession of our Gallery to work on their next artistic creation, “Idiomas”. It is not everyday that we will have the chance to observe a working process in the field of Dance and we are all looking forward to be privileged spectators of their rehearsals.
One speaks Gujarati and English and the other French and Spanish. One dances hiphop and the other Kathak. The differences are many: gender, religion, roots, geography, culture,traditions…
For many years, thanks to their dance, Vaishali Trivedi and Sebastien Vela Lopez have been communicating through their bodies in other choreographers’ creations. Today, their desire is strong to meet on the stage and to express fully in their own ways through this first communication tool. The dance thus becomes the speech and the language that breaks the barriers set by profound differences.
How to understand one another without words? What if the words didn’t exist anymore?
And if the only language was movement, could we communicate?
The universal language, does it really exist?
This is all about the meeting between Vaishali Trivedi and Sebastien Vela Lopez.
