“Cyrano thi Shukdan” by Mr. Chinu Modi
Mr. Modi is a renowned poet, gazalkar and playwright. His Gujarati adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s very famous “Cyrano de Bergerac” is known as “Shukdan”. This is a fabulous attempt of not only adapting a story in a different cultural context but also of matching the physical qualities of the original characters with the adapted ones that everything seems to be very natural, very original. Mr. Modi will also speak of existentialism, dadaism and surrealism which generated in France and have laid a great impact on the literary current of Gujarat.
